إطلاق منصة “المرأة العربية في العلوم” بالشراكة بين منظمة اليونسكو، والأكاديمية العربية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والنقل البحري

أطلقت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو)، بالتعاون مع الأكاديمية العربية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والنقل البحري، منصة “المرأة العربية في العلوم” خلال ورشة عمل تفاعلية استضافها الحرم الأكاديمية في القرية الذكية بالقاهرة.
تُعد هذه المنصة الرقمية الأولى من نوعها في المنطقة، وقد صُممت بالشراكة مع نساء علماء من الدول العربية بهدف تعزيز مشاركتهن، وتحسين فرص التنقل والتعاون في مختلف المجالات العلمية، بما في ذلك العلوم الاجتماعية والإنسانية التي تعاني من ضعف تمثيل النساء فيها.
وشهد الحدث حضور عدد من العالمات والطالبات والجهات المعنية، حيث أتيح للمشاركين استكشاف خدمات المنصة، مثل برامج الإرشاد العلمي المشترك، والفرص المهنية، وموارد بناء القدرات، ومجتمع لتبادل المعرفة، إلى جانب برنامج السفراء العلمي. كما شارك الحضور في جلسات تفاعلية لتقديم ملاحظاتهم ومقترحاتهم لتطوير المنصة في مراحلها القادمة.
تُشكل هذه المبادرة خطوة رائدة نحو تعزيز المساواة بين الجنسين في المجال العلمي، وتسهم في دعم الابتكار المفتوح والتنمية الشاملة في مصر والمنطقة العربية. وقد تم إطلاق المنصة تجريبياً في مصر والسودان، مع خطة للتوسع إلى بقية الدول العربية خلال المرحلة المقبلة.
ويؤكد هذا التعاون بين منظمة اليونسكو والأكاديمية العربية التزام الجانبين بتمكين المرأة في المجالات العلمية، وبناء مستقبل قائم على المعرفة والابتكار في العالم العربي.
UNESCO and AASTMT Launch Groundbreaking Arab Women in Science Platform in Cairo
1 The UNESCO Regional Office for Egypt and Sudan, in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), officially launched today the Arab Women in Science (AWSci) Platform during a high-level consultation and testing workshop held at the AASTMT Smart Campus in Cairo.
This pioneering digital platform is the first of its kind in the region, co-designed with and for Arab women scientists to enhance their visibility, participation, and mobility across all scientific fields. Rooted in the findings of an extensive regional consultation process, the platform responds to the pressing challenges that Arab women face in advancing scientific careers—particularly in underrepresented disciplines such as the social and human sciences.
The launch event brought together women scientists, students, and stakeholders for a hands-on introduction to the platform’s core features, which include co-mentorship opportunities, fellowships, capacity-building resources, a knowledge-sharing hub, and a dynamic ambassadors programme. Participants also provided direct feedback through interactive group sessions, which will inform the platform’s next development phase.
This initiative is a bold step toward building inclusive scientific ecosystems across the Arab region and contributes to broader efforts promoting gender equality, open science, and innovation. With its pilot implementation in Egypt and Sudan, the AWSci Platform aims to expand to serve all Arab countries, offering women and girls the tools to pursue, thrive in, and lead scientific careers.
The collaboration between UNESCO and AASTMT reflects a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of Arab women scientists and fostering sustainable, knowledge-driven development in the region.
